Northern Ridge District Banquet
The Northern Ridge District (which encompasses Roswell, Alpharetta, Milton, and Johns Creek) held their annual banquet on January 25 to review the previous year, plan for next year, and honor our most exceptional scout leaders. We are fortunate to be part of such a successful and high-energy district. Pack 3000’s very own Hemang Shah earned […]
2020 Pinewood Derby
The 2020 Pinewood Derby was a great success, with entries from every rank (Lions through Arrow of Light) plus parents and siblings. Thank you to Scott Brown (Wolf den leader) for organizing the event, and thank you to all of the volunteers who helped the day run smoothly. This year’s overall champion was Liam Finan, […]
Pinewood Derby Check-In
Thank you to all of our intrepid racers and diligent inspectors for making the pinewood derby check-in a success! Our scouts (and parents and siblings) brought some really impressive cars this year.
January Den Meeting
We completed the “Make it Move” elective adventure at today’s den meeting, learning about (and experimenting with!) all sorts of machines, including popsicle stick chain reactions, pulleys in different configurations, levers, and Rube Goldberg contraptions. We specifically did the following components of Make it Move: 1. Create an “exploding” craft stick reaction 2. Make two […]
The teepee is back!
Have you seen the new teepee at the BUMC scout compound? We are thrilled to have this local landmark back in action! Thank you Troop 3000!
Ed’s Speed Shop 2020
Thank you for coming out to Ed’s Speed Shop on Saturday January 11! The weather was messy (per speed shop tradition), but it takes more than that to deter our pinewood derby car designers. And besides, there is nothing like hot chocolate and donuts when the weather is bad. It looks like we are going […]
December pack meeting
The final Pack 3000 pack meeting of 2019 was one to remember! The pack met its popcorn fundraising goal (and then some) and earned a pizza and ice cream party. Not only that, but 13 (!!!) of our cub scouts raised enough money to earn the very special privilege of throwing a pie in the […]
Den 4 December meeting
At our December 8th meeting, our scouts learned all about safe and responsible use of pocket knives! They completed the “bear claws” requirement (combining parts of 3a and 3b by whittling soap and practicing opening letters) and also fulfilled the requirements to earn a “whittling chip”, which gives them the privilege of using pocket knives […]
Den 4 November meeting
Our scouts gathered at Autrey Mill’s Scout Day on November 16 to complete the “Fur, Feather, and Ferns” requirement. We had a great time, and the volunteers there did a wonderful job setting up stations for the scouts to complete their adventure requirements. Highlights included observing snakes and turtles in their visitor’s center, looking for […]
Den 4 at the Pack 3000 fall field trip
Den 4 had a great time on the Pack 3000 fall field trip. As one of the bigger dens, we got our very own (and very patient) tour guide for most of the night. Some of our favorite creatures were the sting rays and jellyfish. The scout leaders are also very pleased to report that […]
October pack meeting
The theme for this month’s pack meeting was “kind”. It was also an extra spooky pack meeting as the scouts raced spiders, tried to guess what was in buckets of “eyeballs”, “spider legs”, and “worms”, and “bats”, and designed their own skeletons.
2019 Fall Field Trip
Pack 3000 had a great overnight trip to the Tennessee Aquarium on Saturday, October 26. We saw an IMAX movie about rescue dogs, toured the aquarium, learned about, watched, and touched all sorts of animals (including a rather messy legless lizard), saw what happens “behind the scenes” at night, ate pizza, and last but not […]
Den 4 October meeting
Den 4 met in downtown Alpharetta for their October meeting to work on requirements 1. (learn about the flag, the pledge of allegiance, and display a flag at home for a month) and 2.B. (visit historical sites in your community). We brought a *lot* of energy to Alpharetta today! You can pick up a walking […]
Bear Scout day at Tellus Science Museum
Some of our Pack 3000 Den 4 Scouts joined other Bear Scouts for a day of science at Tellus on Saturday October 5. They visited the planetarium, learned about astronomy, and did all sorts of experiments with static electricity, color, buoyancy, and constellations along the way to completing the “Out of this World” NOVA award […]
Den 4 September (fall campout) meeting
Thank you Den 4 for joining us for another awesome campout! Our den set up, organized, and led the other scouts in the pack through “carnival” games during the pack activity time. During our den time we talked about our favorite parts of the games, and what worked well and what didn’t. We also made […]
2019 Fall Campout
Thank you everyone for joining us for another fantastic fall campout! It was an action packed weekend full of games, hikes, scavenger hunts, campfires, food, s’mores, cobbler, and much more. Also thank you to Birmingham United Methodist Church for graciously allowing us to use their property, and most of all, thank you to all of […]
Den 4 September meeting
We held our first den meeting of the year on September 8, 2019! The adventure for this camp was “Bear Necessities”, so we learned all about how to prepare for camping. Required components completed (the last is optional): 2. Make a list of items you should take along on the activity selected in Requirement 1. […]
2019 Orientation and Sign Up
Thank you to all the new families for joining us at the orientation and sign up night! Our newest scouts had a great time with styrofoam rockets, popsicle stick bombs, and learning all about the great activities in store in Pack 3000.
August Pack Meeting
It was great to have everyone back together for our first pack meeting of the year, with a theme of being “friendly”! It was a busy pack meeting: the scouts earned advancements for their summer activities, learned about this year’s popcorn fundraiser, and kept active with popcorn relay racing, cornhole, and word puzzles. Check with […]
