Den 4 November meeting

Our scouts gathered at Autrey Mill’s Scout Day on November 16 to complete the “Fur, Feather, and Ferns” requirement. We had a great time, and the volunteers there did a wonderful job setting up stations for the scouts to complete their adventure requirements. Highlights included observing snakes and turtles in their visitor’s center, looking for wildlife on a hike, exploring a hoola-hoop ring for bugs, planting a bean, learning about composting, observing plants with a magnifying glass, and learning about endangered species. Oh, and don’t forget the hot chocolate!

If you missed this requirement, you may already have much of it complete (except for the hike) from summer camp. Ask Jason and Phil if you have questions.

On the following day (Sunday November 17) our scouts volunteered with the Meals by Grace program at Midway UMC and helped to prepare meal boxes for families in need in the area. Thank you to Heather Velloff for setting this up for us. It’s a wonderful cause, and it helped our scouts fulfill the community service component of their “Paws for Action” adventure.
