Pack 3000 recently had the opportunity to visit one of the Milton Fire-Rescue Department’s fire stations for an exciting behind-the-scenes tour of the equipment, vehicles, and the dedicated professionals who help keep our community safe.
For many of our Scouts, it was their first chance to see what life is like inside a working fire station and to learn about the many different ways firefighters serve our community—not just by fighting fires, but by responding to medical emergencies, rescues, accidents, and natural disasters.
Exploring the Fire Station
During the visit, Scouts toured the station, climbed aboard emergency vehicles, and learned about the specialized equipment firefighters use every day.
They discovered how teamwork, training, and preparation allow firefighters to respond quickly whenever someone needs help.
Our Scouts enjoyed learning about:
- 🚒 Fire engines and rescue vehicles
- 🧯 Firefighting tools and protective equipment
- 🚑 Emergency medical response
- 📻 Communication and dispatch systems
- 🦺 Personal protective gear firefighters wear
- 🚨 How firefighters prepare for emergencies every day
The firefighters answered dozens of great questions and helped our Scouts better understand the important role they play in protecting our community.

Search and Rescue—Even for Horses!
One of the most exciting parts of the visit was learning about the department’s specialized search and rescue capabilities, including rescues involving both people and horses.
Because the City of Milton has many parks, trails, and equestrian communities, firefighters train for unique rescue situations that require specialized equipment and teamwork. Scouts learned how first responders safely assist people and animals during emergencies, demonstrating that every rescue is different and every situation requires careful planning.
It was fascinating to see how firefighters prepare for challenges beyond what most people imagine.
Learning from Our Community Heroes
Meeting firefighters in person helped our Scouts see that first responders are more than emergency responders—they are educators, problem-solvers, and community leaders.
Throughout the visit, Scouts learned about:
- ❤️ Serving others with courage and compassion
- 🤝 Working together as a team
- 🚨 Emergency preparedness and safety
- 🌟 Respecting those who serve our community
- 💙 Giving back through service
These lessons reinforce many of the same values found in the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
Thank You, Milton Fire-Rescue!
Pack 3000 would like to extend our sincere thanks to the firefighters and staff of the Milton Fire-Rescue Department for taking time out of their busy schedules to welcome our Scouts.
Your willingness to share your knowledge, answer questions, and demonstrate your equipment made this a memorable experience that inspired curiosity and appreciation for the work you do every day.
Building Future Leaders
Experiences like this help Cub Scouts discover the many ways people serve their communities while encouraging them to be prepared, helpful, and respectful citizens.
Whether we’re camping, hiking, building rockets, exploring STEM, or learning from our local heroes, every Pack 3000 adventure helps Scouts grow in confidence, character, and leadership.
Thank you, Milton Fire-Rescue, for showing our Scouts what it means to answer the call to serve others!
